We all know we're spending too much time staring at screens. 

We refresh without thinking. We scroll without any sense of time.

We get sucked into silly games and binge watch shows.

We're doing this because we crave connection. We want to feel alive.

We live in an increasingly noisy world but feel ever more empty and lonely.

You know why? Because all this scrolling and binge watching is messing with our minds.

... We become addicted to these screens.
... We compulsively check them even though it leaves us feeling anxious and sad.
... We ignore people around us.
... We're chasing spikes of dopamine that never really deliver.

It's time to take back control of our screens and of our lives.
During this challenge, you will...
Connect to what really matters. Think back to life before iPhones and tablets. You'll ask yourself, "What did I used to do when I was bored or anxious? What used to bring me joy?"
Get your life back! Sure you're alive...but are you really living? How many hours a day do you lose to scrolling, email, and Netflix? This is not how God meant you to live.
Reward yourself. This is going to be hard work, but it will also be immensely satisfying. You're going to choose some great rewards to keep motivated throughout the challenge!
Put limits on your screens. Technology is amazing, so I'm not going to ask you to give it up. Instead, you're going to learn how to put really good boundaries on when and how you want to intentionally use the screens in your life.

What does Jesus have to do with it?
Everything, of course! The reason we ought to become more detached from our screens, is to focus more on bringing Christ to the world. You don't have to be Christian to do the program but I will be reading Bible verses and talking about Jesus because well... He's everything to me!
How can I survive without Facebook?
Well, first you don't necessarily have to give it up (though if you're that dependent on it, you might want to try!) The purpose of this challenge is so that you can gain control of your digital life, rather than it controlling you. This challenge will teach you that it's OK to use Facebook, but it needs to be properly prioritized in relation to your family and the rest of your life!
I'm scared that I'll just feel lonely!
Life isn't meant to be shallow. Christ wants us to drink deeply! The sad truth is that most of us today have substituted a gigantic crowd of online "friends" in place of of a few real, intimate, actually meaningful friendships. Yes, there may be a bumpy transition when we let go of the former - but it's nothing compared to how meaningful it is to gain the latter!
I was told that every "-ism" is bad!
Well, say that to Catholic-ism and Monastic-ism first. :) But on a serious note; placing any worldly focus above a Godly focus is always wrong. The goal of this course isn't just another "-ism," instead it's to get our focus back on God, and on serving our neighbor - especially our family.
Kick your screen habit.
